Capitol Solutions facilitates dialogue between NoCo biz leaders and Sen. Bennett
DENVER, CO- Capitol Solutions, a leading public affairs firm based in Denver, today organized a sit down with United States Sen. Michael Bennet and the foremost members of the Northern Colorado business community.
"Sen. Bennet demonstrated a real and determined commitment to work with the Northern Colorado business community to create a hospitable economic environment," said Sandra Hagen Solin, President of Capitol Solutions and issues manager for NCLA. "It was great to bring them together and I hope to do it again soon." Solin lead the charge to bring Bennet and members of the Northern Colorado Legislative Alliance together to talk about federal legislative issues affecting the cost of business-particularly health-care reform legislation currently making its way through Congress. Bennet asked members of the Northern Colorado business community to put partisan differences aside today in their discussion about what he plans to do in Washington to bolster the local economy. He kicked off the talk by addressing the growing national debt before going into details about the hot topic of where he stands on health-care reform. When one member of the Northern Colorado Legislative Alliance asked Bennet where he stands on the public option, he said his number one agenda is to restore the country's fiscal health. "I will not support a bill that is a government takeover of our health-care system," Bennet said. He stressed we need to move from an entitlement-based to something that is outcome based. Bennet stressed integration of the health care system and said, "folks ought to have more options, not fewer." When asked about how tort reform plays into the health care debate Bennet said, "aspects of our legal system incentivize the practicing of defensive medicine." He also outlined his specific legislative plans to address the national debt. He pointed out how he's spearheading a pay-as-you-go approach to federal budgeting. His proposed PAYGO plan would require all increases in spending to be offset by an increase in revenue. Bennet said he plans to introduce legislation to commission a bipartisan task force to tackle the more than $12 trillion national debt.About Capitol Solutions - Capitol Solutions is a full-service, government and public affairs firm.
